Europe’s Widest Waterfall, Kuldiga, Latvia

Donec malesuada libero vel mi ullamcorper tincidunt.

We came to Kuldīga mainly because of the Venta Rapid, the widest waterfall in Europe, 249 metres in width (becomes as wide as 275 metres during spring floods), but only two metres in height though.

240 metres from the waterfall is located the famous Kuldīga brick bridge. It was built in 1874 and is the longest operating brick bridge in Europe.

Since we didn’t know much about the town, we set ourselves up for a huge surprise, rambling around the beautiful picturesque streets of this Latvian marvel. The architectural value in the historical centre is self-evident. There is not a single plastic window in the old town. Each building features a restored wooden door, the old buildings are not insulated, not a single wood-shed is demolished and every fence has a purpose.
